Selling on Cobuntu
You can list products and host events in any Cobuntu community that allows member sellers. Here's how it works.
You own what you sell
Every product or event you list is yours. Your name is on it, your payouts go to your own Stripe account, and you set the price. Communities act as the channel — they help you reach members — but they never take ownership of your work.
Communities act as brokers
When you list in a community, the community takes a commission on each sale. The rate depends on the community's pricing model:
- Flat commission— every member uses the same rate set by community leaders, indexed by what you're selling (product or event).
- Dynamic commission — each listing is negotiated individually with community leaders before going live.
The exact rates for this community are on SID Academy's selling guide.
Cobuntu takes 0% from you directly
Cobuntu earns from the community's commission, not from your revenue. You receive the full sale price minus the community's commission and standard Stripe processing fees. There's no separate Cobuntu fee on top.
Approval works two ways
Depending on the community's policy, your listing either goes live the moment you submit it, or it enters a review queue first. When review is required, community leaders see your submission, can ask questions in a dedicated chat, and approve or decline.
Communities using the dynamic commission model always review every listing — the review IS the negotiation.
Paid listings need a connected Stripe account
To accept money you need to connect your own Stripe account — Cobuntu doesn't hold funds on your behalf. Free listings work without one. You'll be prompted to connect Stripe the first time you try to set a price.
One restriction
Members can't scope listings to specific membership tiers (“only Gold members can buy this”). Tier-gating is reserved for community-owned listings, so leaders can offer tier-exclusive perks without member sellers being able to claim the same lever.
